Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé celebrates its world premiere

Four doors. No compromises. The new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé is the brand’s first fully electric high-performance production model, combining the power of a hypercar with the emotion of an Affalterbach V8 – according to Mercedes-AMG. 1000 hp? Almost normality. At least if you call it a "supercar". See Tesla, Porsche, Lamborghini. Why does the new Mercedes-AMG GT four-door still make us raise an eyebrow? It's not just because of its extreme performance combined with the promise of enormous endurance and high-precision driving dynamics.

New engine concept

For the first time, Mercedes-AMG is relying entirely on the specially developed AMG.EA high-performance architecture. The vehicle thus delivers up to 1,169 hp, accelerates to 100 km/h in around 2.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of more than 300 km/h. This is made possible by a high-performance battery combined with three innovative axial flux motors from electric motor specialist Yasa. Two work on the rear axle, one at the front.

Charging station sprint

The four-door car doesn't just make great speed on the road, but also at the charging station. Thanks to a charging capacity of 600 kW, more than 460 kilometres of range can be recharged in just ten minutes. The charging cycle from 10 to 80 per cent State of Charge (SoC) is achieved in just eleven minutes.

The Soundmachine

If you are a die-hard fan of the typical sound of a V8 combustion engine, they have also thought of you. Mercedes-AMG wants to retain the typical AMG feeling despite the electric drive : In AMGFORCE S+ mode, the hypercar delivers artificially generated V8 sounds, simulated gear changes and noticeable vibrations.

If that's not enough: at 5.09 metres long, 1.96 metres wide and 3.04 metres wheelbase, it offers plenty of space for four occupants. The boot can hold 507 litres of luggage, with another 62 litres in the frunk. Inside, the sports car combines modern displays and the latest software. This means you can relax and drop off the family at the holiday hotel and then go for a few adrenaline-fuelled laps on the race track next door.
