The GTS, the Spider, is a series in its own right. It is presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1972 and is almost identical to the closed version, apart from the targa roof. However, connoisseurs will immediately notice that the GTS no longer has quarter windows. The GTS is later fitted with Campagnola wheels and widened fenders. Under the hood, the 195-hp V6 is also at work, which is more than enough to push the dry-only 1,080-kilo Spider forward in a decent way. The cylinder block is made of cast iron, the entire engine is mounted transversely and coupled to a fivespeed manual transmission. Three Weber twin carburetors take care of mixture formation. When the model series is discontinued in 1974, the Spider is also discontinued. A total of 2,487 of the 246 GT are built, and only 1,274 of the 246 GTS.
