A vision becomes reality: the Ferrari SC40

Ferrari presents its latest One-Off creation from the Special Projects programme, the SC40. The name and design pay homage to the legendary Ferrari F40 from 1987.

Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre under the direction of Flavio Manzoni, the SC40 is a sports car with a V6 engine, which takes its architecture, chassis and powertrain from the 296 GTB – designed around the wishes of a single customer.

It combines sharp, industrial geometry with sculptural surfaces and softer transitions. The "SC40" lettering engraved in relief on the side of the wing is also a clear homage to the iconic super sports car from Ferrari. However, the aim was not a literal reinterpretation, but a model with its own, striking personality.

The proportions are characterised by a long, flat front, a short rear overhang and a high, fixed rear wing – painted in the specifically developed exterior colour SC40 White – which grows out of the flanks of the vehicle.

SC40 White is a cool shade that ideally accentuates the curves of the bodywork in sunlight and is reminiscent of the colour of the carbon kevlar used for the interior.

Or, summarised in one sentence: Precision that is perfect in every respect.

A design model of the vehicle is currently on display at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello.
