Four wins: The Polestar 4 is coming to Europe

Okay, okay, you're right: it has long been clear that the award-winning Polestar 4 would also be available for sale on the European market. But here's the news: the time has finally come. Which is why we're taking a look at the visually appealing SUV coupé.

Form, completed: The Polestar 4 is finally coming to our European roads. And is now shaking up the SUV segment there. With a coupé-like silhouette, familiar Polestar front lights and a skilful interplay of clear lines and concave-convex surfaces. But: all without a rear windscreen. No, you haven't forgotten it. They deliberately left it out, reveals Maximilian Missoni, Head of Design at Polestar.

"With the Polestar Precept, we had already given a preview of a breathtaking new vehicle experience by dispensing with the rear window for the first time. The rear head area, which plays an important role in safety, has also been moved further back. This means we can now offer rear seat passengers a unique experience in our SUV coupé."

The Polestar 4 consistently continues the key elements of the concept car and brings them to life. The design not only follows aesthetics, but also function: the Polestar 4 combines the aerodynamics of a coupé with the spaciousness of an SUV. The aerodynamic efficiency is supported by the low vehicle front, the retractable door handles, the flush glazing with frameless windows, the rear aero slats and the optimisation of the air flow around the rear light bar. Here, too, it is clear that design and its significance for the brand are a matter for the boss.

"The launch of the Polestar 4 in all our markets during 2024 is key to our success as it adds a third model to our portfolio. Its innovative interpretation of an SUV coupé offers great interior space and a breathtaking appearance," emphasises Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.

All that remains is the question of performance - which the Swedes answer very confidently. Available with dual and single motors, both Long Range variants will have a 100-kWh battery. The Long Range Dual Motor offers 400 kW (544 PS) of power and 686 Nm of torque and a provisional target range of up to 580 kilometres.

A disconnect clutch allows the vehicle to disengage the front electric motor when it is not needed to maximise range and efficiency. The Long Range Single Motor variant has a 200 kW (272 hp) and 343 Newton metre motor in the rear and has a provisional range of up to 610 kilometres.

And if those aren't winning qualities alongside the superior design, then we don't know what is.
