At the Outer Edge of Reality

Friends, don’t be fooled by this lovely, dreamy baby blue. The “S” in the name should warn you. S as in snake. The Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster exhales the sweet poison of temptation on the borderline between heaven and hell. And if you’re lucky, you’ll catch a toxic dose just when there’s a racetrack lurking nearby.

Forget the apple. And the Garden of Eden. The truly exciting part is the snake. And how it seduces you with its venom. Your innocence already bids farewell at the mere sight of it, paradise fades to cloud cuckoo land. The fixed gaze of the serpent’s gleaming Y-shaped eyes alone sears away all appearances, dreams and fantasies.

Willow Springs International Raceway, a legendary circuit tucked into the barren, yellow-brown hills not far from Los Angeles. Several scenes from the movie Ford v Ferrari (also titled Le Mans ’66) were shot here. The main track is called Big Willow, a 2.5-mile road course. In an Aventador S Roadster, however, this distance becomes relative due to an extreme deformation of the space-time continuum. All you have to do is flip the red protective cap off the start button. And ignition! The inertia rears up for just an ultra-short moment, then the resistance is crushed. Rocketman!

The tree of knowledge offers high-speed curves, inclines and slopes; today it is dressed in sizzling hot flickering asphalt. This is what reality looks like, this is exactly where you find yourself in this Lamborghini. The air is dry. Breathlessly, you breathe in the hot air at 40°C in the shade. Too bad there is no shade anywhere to be found.
