Form and function? Emotion! In Italy, good design is always a triad. So it is with the Brionvega Radiofonografo designed by the legendary designers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. First presented in 1965, their simple yet skillful development proved to be absolutely timeless: To this day, the basic form has not been changed, only the wood used for the modular system on wheels has undergone various alterations. The latest version of the Radiofonografo is made of cherry wood - and goes by the resonant additional name 'Ciliegio.'

A playful and conspiratorial concept that encourages a performative interaction with the object.

In doing so, the Italians not only achieve the proverbial 'squaring of the circle' with the detachable speakers but also bring together yet another apparent contradiction: Cherry wood is a strong and compact wood, which is simultaneously associated with the softness and elegance of spring. But it fits, as the Radiofonografo itself is an expression of dual nature: an iconic object distinguished by great acoustic reliability and at the same time an expression of design of unsurpassed beauty and elegance.
