rampstyle #23 Me. Again.

An issue we dedicate to ourselves. Us. Once again. Following on from our last rampstyle, which we called »Me for Myself«. Wonderful. How do we ideally approach this »me«? We recommend a combination of two strategies: Approach your identity hunt like Inspector Columbo, who always seems a bit off-track in the detective series of the same name, but nevertheless always solves the case.

An issue we dedicate to ourselves. Us. Once again. Following on from our last rampstyle, which we called »Me for Myself«. Wonderful. How do we ideally approach this »me«? We recommend a combination of two strategies:

Approach your identity hunt like Inspector Columbo, who always seems a bit off-track in the detective series of the same name, but nevertheless always solves the case. Remember: never be blinded by first impressions; good questions are subversive and open up new perspectives.

Then: Celebrate boredom. Boredom is the state in which the brain goes for a walk, we can engage in stimulation or daydreaming. We are completely with ourselves.

And maybe in such a moment we even come up with something unconventional like the theory of relativity. Albert Einstein's question, posed in an idle moment, »What would the world look like if I could ride on the back of a beam of light?« revolutionized a number of matters, after all.

So it's nice if we can offer you a thought-provoking, relaxed boredom with this issue.

Let's get straight to the point: Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine

Adam Levine is the frontman and guitarist of the band Maroon 5, sometimes an actor and always a shrewd businessman. He also has a lot of fun in fashion shoots and interviews, as we noticed. Because he really always says what he thinks.

About horses, balls and men

What the pictures of photographer Veronika Faustmann show more than clearly: If you know a lot about tactics and have a thirst for speed and risk, polo is the right sport for you. A story about the fastest and oldest team sport in the world.

Absolutely extraordinary: Camilla Pang

Camilla Pang is a little different from other people. The British woman was diagnosed with autism and ADHD, she is a biologist and writer, and in her book she compares people to protein molecules. That alone is enough to make you want to look more closely.

Casual. Elegant.

British tailor Edwin Hardy Amies said: »A man should look as if he's bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care and then forgotten all about them.« We liked the phrase, put together our essentials for fall, but didn't forget to photograph them.

Graham, Ickx, Hulme & Stewart.

1968 was a wild year, not only politically, but also in terms of motorsports: Formula 1 bolides grew wings, turbine cars wanted to stir up Le Mans. The photographers of the DPPI agency were always there. Now the archive has been opened.

Star architect Christoph Ingenhoven in an interview

He changed the cities of this world with his buildings, in which he combines sustainability and aesthetics. He told us what he considers critical about skyscrapers and that humanity can be divided into nest and cave dwellers. (He likes nests better).

Best of Anthony Kiedis

The best excerpts from conversations with the frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers - with frank words about his drug excesses, his numerous affairs and his attitude to aging. Only to Heidi Klum he says nothing.

More than nice: Hugh Jackman

No one in Hollywood is as unbelievably nice as the 52-year-old actor, hardly anyone in such a refreshingly open and reflective way. Yes, we admit it: It really was a nice interview with the Australian.

How can we live better, Dr. Berg?

Our interviewee was philosopher, physicist and sustainability expert Christian Berg. He is a member of the German presidium of the Club of Rome and has long been thinking about how as many people as possible can live well without putting the future at risk.

Incari CEO Osman Dumbuya about people and machines

Osman Dumbuya is CEO of the company Incari and works on user interfaces. We learned from him how little they have to do with artificial intelligence, why one should be careful with the term »start-up« and what »Star Trek« has to do with everything.
