Unconventional is probably the first word that comes to mind for the new collection from Audemars Piguet and Swatch that is currently turning the watch world on its head. Perhaps also: cheeky. The two Swiss watch manufacturers are taking the design of the iconic Royal Oak from Audemars Piguet, combining it with Swatch's modular POP line from the 1980s – and turning it into a pocket watch of all things.
More precisely: eight pocket watch models. Powered by the new hand-wound movement based on the Swatch-typical SISTEM51, equipped with the characteristic octagonal bezel and eight hexagonal screws of the Royal Oak and available as a beepine or savonnette version. But above all, "Royal Pop" is one thing: colourful.
