80 years of Vespa

Tanti Auguri, Vespa!

On April 23, 1946, the Italian industrialist Enrico Piaggio registered the “Vespa” as a patent – and with it, an Italian charm on two wheels that has been shaping generations for 80 years. To celebrate the anniversary, Piaggio has launched two special anniversary models. And we take a look back at our five favorite models from the past.

80 years of Vespa – Tanti Auguri!

The two special editions Primavera 80th and GTS 80th pay tribute to the brand's origins dating back to 1946: the pastel green colour and design language are reminiscent of the first Vespa models from the historical archives – tone-on-tone elements, satin-finish accents and reinterpreted rims in the style of the early steel wheels provide nostalgic charm. At the same time, the design is complemented by anniversary details such as the "80th" badge and the "80 Years of Vespa Est.1946" emblem. The whole thing is rounded off by a matching lifestyle collection with clothing and collector's items.

Good to know: From 25 to 28 June, Rome will be the big stage for the iconic scooter – events, sporting competitions and the Vespa Concours d'Elegance will take place in the Vespa Village and throughout the city. 1st Vespa Primavera Electric Moped – "Unique Edition"
Vespa is celebrating inclusion and creativity by supporting the "Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025" with a unique project. New York-based sculptor Urs Fischer created this special edition: a colourful Vespa, signed by the artist himself, with vibrant colours and black, hand-drawn lines applied with a broad acrylic marker. The genuine leather seat was designed by hand with dyes and black lines to round off the design.
2nd Vespa 946 Snake
2025: the year of the snake. The Vespa is a symbol of rebirth, intuition and timeless sophistication, epitomised by the Vespa 946 Snake. The Vespa is a tribute to the lunar calendar, limited to 888 numbered scooters.
3rd Vespa Primavera Batik
In this special edition, the timeless silhouette of the Vespa Primavera meets the traditional Indonesian batik pattern. The Vespa Primavera Batik is an ode to life and joy, to travelling and discovery. The basic colour, batik green, is reminiscent of waves lapping on tropical beaches. The strict lines are reminiscent of hidden temples, while the batik decor combines seven different motifs from the islands of Java, Sumatra and Bali.
4th Vespa Racing Sixties
The model revives the world of colour in the style of the "gentlemen riders" of the 60s. The 60s represent a legendary decade in the history of motorsport. Thrills, speed and technology were paired with elegance and style. The Vespa Sprint Racing Sixties and Vespa GTS Super Racing Sixties transport this style into the present day.
5th Vespa Ferrari ET4 150
The Vespa Ferrari ET4 150 was a tribute to the Ferrari team for winning the Formula 1 World Championship in 2000. Painted in Ferrari red, with the seat covered in the same leather that was used in a Ferrari, this Vespa bore the names of Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, Luca Montezemolo and John Todt.
