Eighty years of Vespa. And Rome is in full swing. Since yesterday, thousands of Vespa enthusiasts have been celebrating the iconic brand’s milestone anniversary in the Italian capital, taking to the streets of the Eternal City until Sunday. The celebrations honour not only the iconic models from eight decades of Vespa history, but also the launch of the exclusive Edizione Ottantesimo.

There are vehicles that take us from A to B. And there are vehicles that suddenly make everything seem a little easier. Like the Vespa. For 80 years, it has been with us through cities, summers and everyday stories. And through love stories, of course. We take a look back at its eventful history.

On 23 April 1946, the Italian industrialist Enrico Piaggio registered a patent for the "Vespa" and with it the Italian charm on two wheels that has shaped generations for 80 years. To mark this milestone birthday, we show you the anniversary models - as well as our favourite two-wheelers from the past.
