Grand Racing

“Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting.” These are the words of Steve McQueen, who in 1971 was not only Hollywood’s highest-paid actor, but also an extremely successful racing driver. His film “Le Mans” still enjoys cult status today. To mark the 55th anniversary, Steve McQueen Eyewear is launching the limited-edition “Grand Racing” range.

In 1971, the film ’Le Mans’ captured the image of a man for whom speed, precision and dedication spoke a common language – far beyond the cinema screen. Both his team and his production company were called ‘Solar Racing’, named after Solar Drive, the address in Los Angeles where his workshop was located.

55 years later, Steve McQueen Eyewear continues this legacy with the numbered limited edition ‘Grand Racing’.

Temples that fit seamlessly under a helmet, generous proportions that enhance support and protection, and a larger, more dynamic silhouette. The frame is designed for both the road and the racetrack. Form follows function.

Yellow lenses provide greater contrast and improved depth perception. A photochromic range from category 1 to 3 adapts to full sunlight as well as to dimmer light. The reduced polarisation filters out reflections without obscuring details. This is complemented by UV400 protection and a hard coating. The result: clear vision for driving, outdoor activities and everyday life.

Available in the colour variants Cola and Black, limited to 160 pieces each. And in November, the label will partner with Les 2 Tours d’Horloge, the world’s only non-stop 24-hour race exclusively for historic racing cars.
