‘Like father, like son’: this is particularly apt in the case of Sam Chermayeff. For before the architect and designer himself became part of Knoll’s history, his father had already written a chapter of it. Ivan Chermayeff, an American graphic designer, was a co-founder of the renowned design agency Chermayeff & Geismar, which was one of the most influential graphic design firms in the US and, amongst other things, designed the logo for the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Together with his business partner Tom Geismar, Chermayeff was responsible for redesigning Knoll’s brand identity and graphic standards.
In 2026, it is now his son Sam’s turn. The Knoll Chermayeff Storage Collection comprises a bookcase, a bar cabinet, a console table, a side table and a coffee table – pieces of furniture that enrich modern interiors whilst continuing the design legacy of Florence Knoll.
