A clash of the superlatives

When two masters of their craft join forces, something truly special is bound to emerge. Take Oliver Peoples and Roger Federer, for example, who are launching their fifth collaborative collection. This is accompanied by a summer campaign that takes us to Rome for an epic showdown.

Tennis player Roger Federer is a man of superlatives: he spent a total of 310 weeks at the top of the world rankings; he was the first player to win three Grand Slam titles in a single season on three occasions; and, with eight singles titles, he remains Wimbledon’s all-time record holder. He retired from professional tennis in 2022 and has since been devoting his time to various projects – and to his family. Federer is, incidentally, the father of two sets of twins. Why are we mentioning this? Because in the campaign for Oliver Peoples, he himself becomes a twin.

The campaign film “Federer vs Federer” by Australian photographer Lachlan Bailey is set in the Eternal City – and stages an epic duel between the athlete and the style icon. Filmed at the historic Foro Italico, two facets come together in a legendary arena where sport and style merge.

"Where sport meets elegance."
The match: characterised by Federer’s signature style – his fluid forehand, the ease of his footwork and the precision of his one-handed backhand.

The collection: comprising four new eyewear models. The R-20 offers a sporty and dynamic take on the shield silhouette, whilst the R-19 focuses on classic elegance. The range is rounded off by the R-17 and R-18 models, as well as new colourways of existing bestsellers.

The entire range is characterised by details that reference Federer’s sporting background: a core wire inspired by tennis racket strings, octagonal temple tips reminiscent of racket grips, and functional elements such as rubberised nose pads. In this way, the range combines technical precision with high-quality craftsmanship, bridging the gap between performance and lifestyle.

With this campaign, Oliver Peoples and Roger Federer are continuing their shared story – a partnership that moves effortlessly between the worlds of both protagonists.
