Fancy a bit of a cool-down? At least on a mental level, an evening at an open-air cinema works a treat. Especially when the stories are set in refreshing water. Take the International Ocean Film Tour Vol. 12, for example. It brings waves, wind and the open sea to the big screen and is currently touring seven countries, with a focus on Germany. Five films, with a total running time of around 120 minutes, tell the stories of people who spend their lives by and on the water. Take Christa Funk, for example. The surf photographer is the first in the water at the legendary Pipeline in Hawaii each morning and the last to leave in the evening. Or professional kite surfer Kevin Langeree. Together with his crew, he chases the best wind, in search of maximum airtime and the country’s most beautiful spots. Rowing the roughly 14,480 kilometres across the Pacific from Peru to Australia without outside help, on the other hand, is a rather daft idea. That’s the sort of thing you come up with when you grow up in Scotland with your brothers.
