Strictly speaking, Maserati’s history actually began back in 1914 with the Maserati brothers’ own workshop. And they were absolutely obsessed with motor racing. Twelve years of repairs, dreams and development followed. And then, in 1926, the brothers unveiled their first car: the Maserati Tipo 26. It won the 1.5-litre class straight away on its debut at the Targa Florio. This was followed by a string of successes, including a Formula 1 title and, most recently, a victory in the European GT2 series. To mark the 100th anniversary of the legendary trident, Maserati is bringing its own DNA back to where it all began: the racetrack, in our case the Hockenheimring in southern Germany.
