La Dolce Vita in England

Last weekend, visitors to the Goodwood Revival were once again transported back to the golden age of motorsport – the 1940s to the 1960s. And the organisers proved once again that the Goodwood Revival is rightly regarded as the world’s most spectacular historic motorsport event.

Anyone who walked through the gates of the Goodwood Motor Circuit last weekend was taken on a journey back in time. At the 2026 Goodwood Revival, the historic venue in West Sussex was once again transformed into a vibrant tribute to the years between 1948 and 1966 – that era of classic cars, iconic fashion and legendary personalities. Anyone who has ever experienced this event knows: there’s nothing quite like it.

Under the motto ‘La Dolce Vita’, over 300 Vespas kicked off the celebrations by paying tribute to the Italian way of life and, in doing so, marking the 80th anniversary of the iconic brand. Incidentally, the Duke of Richmond was riding pillion himself.

Among the highlights of the programme were not only the celebrations marking Maserati’s centenary in motor racing, but also the 100th birthday of three-time Formula 1 world champion Jack Brabham, the 60th anniversary of his third Formula 1 title and the 50th anniversary of the first 50cc world championship title won by Barry Sheene, the legendary British motorcyclist.

And whilst these legends were being honoured, other legends competed against one another in the St Mary’s Trophy: Amidst roaring V8 engines, Alfa Romeos and the iconic Lotus Cortina, one of the weekend’s most thrilling touring car races unfolded, with Romain Dumas in the Ford Galaxie 500, Frank Stippler and Jenson Button leading the pack.

Sunday’s grand finale? As tradition dictates, the RAC TT Celebration. In the most prestigious race in historic motorsport, German racing driver André Lotterer secured his third victory in the E-Type ‘Low Drag’ Coupé – a fitting conclusion to a weekend full of historic racing moments.

Of course, one thing that was a must again this year was the glamorous vintage style. And it has to be said, the visitors really pulled it off. But see for yourself.

For those already thinking ahead to 2027: ticket sales will begin on 28 September, initially exclusively for holders of this year’s tickets and Goodwood Road Racing Club members, and subsequently for the general public.
