Paisley helped ETRO become a cult fashion brand. Now, this iconic pattern is also lending a touch of style to the new pool area and pool bar at the Romazzino, the Belmond hotel on Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda.

Some patterns manage time and again to take centre stage. Paisley is undoubtedly one of them. At ETRO, certainly. So it’s no wonder that the Milanese fashion house, with its distinctive design signature, is now making an appearance in places where you might not necessarily expect it at first: by the pool. More specifically, by the pool at the Romazzino, a Belmond hotel on Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda, which has been one of the most famous destinations in the Mediterranean for decades.

For this collaboration, ETRO has developed a fabric specifically to reinterpret the paisley pattern – and in doing so, it builds on the very strength of the Romazzino: its setting. The emerald-green, crystal-clear waters of the Costa Smeralda and the striking rocks of the surrounding landscape are reflected in the design, which features warm terracotta, beige and brown tones, complemented by accents of sage and petrol.

The new look extends throughout the pool bar, the outdoor areas surrounding the freshwater pool, and the Relaxing Wood area, which is just a few steps away from the emerald-green sea. And lo and behold: what was established in the 19th century in the weaving mills of Paisley, Scotland, is making a fine impression in the 21st century in this Mediterranean setting.

So: pack your bags – and off we go to the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia.
