Move par excellence

With the world's first Haute Horlogerie chessboard, CHANEL has made an ingenious move. And in doing so, it has brought the vision of founder Coco Chanel into the modern age.

Visionary is the word that probably best describes designer Coco Chanel: she freed women from uncomfortable corsets and instead favoured simple, comfortable and elegant clothing, adopting elements from menswear. She turned the "little black dress" into a timeless classic, just like her tweed suit. One of the most famous perfumes in the world? That's right. Chanel No. 5.

The fashion house CHANEL rethought this vision and launched the official "Chanel Coco Game Capsule Collection" at the Watches and Wonders in Geneva last week – a limited design line of watches and jewellery inspired by pixel art and classic games.

A unique highlight of the collection – literally: a chessboard set with diamonds. It is limited to exactly one piece.

If you would like to find out more about it The base of the board is made of obsidian, the playing field itself is made of black and white ceramic, framed by sparkling diamonds. The 32 individually designed pieces take up iconic symbols of the Maison, including the Place Vendôme column and a lion king. The most powerful figure on the board, the Queen, is of course Gabrielle Chanel herself – in a diamond-studded tweed costume.

The base of the figurines also contains a hidden 25 mm clock face.
