The Italian term "Gran Turismo" translates simply as "great ride". Sounds very sober. But the effect is highly emotional. Because at its core, the abbreviation "GT" stands for everything that has always made automobility so appealing: technical excellence meets bold design, high driving comfort and long-distance capability. For the road, the racetrack or – taken to the virtual extreme – for the video game series of the same name.
Xiaomi Vision GT
Vision follows production vehicle: Xiaomi is already part of the video game Gran Turismo 7 with the SU7 Ultra. As the first Chinese car manufacturer, the company is now also taking part in the Vision Gran Turismo project. With the Vision GT concept car, the brand showed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in March and now at Auto China how it imagines a hypercar.
This is what it looks like: An extremely flat body, a striking front splitter panel, open wheel arches and a central fin element on the roof characterise the appearance. In the interior, Xiaomi has opted for a teardrop-shaped cockpit – you will look in vain for classic seats. Instead, you take a seat in fixed shells that are integrated directly into the bodywork.
