The Original Icon

The actor Samuel L. Jackson has starred in no fewer than 215 films, and now he's taking on the next leading role – in the new campaign for the adidas Superstar. The title of the advert: "The Original Icon".

The adidas Originals Superstar made its debut in the 1970s. Originally designed for basketball, it was quickly discovered by the pioneers of streetwear and has been reinvented as an absolute classic ever since.

For spring 2026, adidas is reinterpreting the Superstar design – with clean lines, modern materials and colours. The classic black and white base is complemented by red accents and combines sporty tradition with contemporary workmanship.

The men's collection is dominated by loose-cut tracksuits with strong colour blocks in red, black and white. Tyshawn denim shorts cover the denim range, while T-shirts and jacquard jerseys in neutral colours round off the new items.

For women, the focus is on the Superstar track top, complemented by a red jacket. Textured faux leather and crochet-look versions combine sporty codes with street fashion.

And the new visual campaign? It's a bit like "Tarantino meets Wes Anderson meets Kubrick", but it was penned and shot by French photographer and director Thibaut Grevet.

The story: Samuel L. Jackson finds himself in the surreal Hotel Superstar, where time does not exist. As he walks barefoot through the hotel in search of his superstars, the camera follows him through endless corridors and into countless rooms, each of which opens up the world of a different icon – from model Kendall Jenner to professional footballer Lamine Yamal and NBA player James Harden.
