What makes us tick? Ultimately, it’s always our personality. This wonderfully dazzling and unique “me” through which we see ourselves and the world.
So far, so good – as seen by others.
But once we start thinking about our self, things get more complicated. Because it is impossible to answer the question of our own identity in just one or two sentences. There are simply too many aspects to our essence. Any attempt at a short description is bound to be wonderfully off the mark.
So we can safely leave the question “Who am I?” unanswered for the time being. In a complex world, with seemingly infinite options, it would be better to focus on two different questions: “Who do I want to be?” and “What is worth living for?”
There we have it. You can’t have a good life without having a personal idea of the meaning of your own life. So let’s allow ourselves to be curious and open to what is important to us. Ideally, we’ll then forget all about those pesky questions – and even forget ourselves for a change.
And suddenly, we’re completely with ourselves.
In the recently published Porsche Unseen, the German sports car manufacturer treated our imagination to a selection of design studies that had been kept under lock and key until now. That seemed to us like a good opportunity to continue imagining. And so we’re treating you to a selection of our Unseen favorites, cast in real life. Just because. After all, we tend to have special memories of things when they are experienced in connection with stories.
Rafael Nadal doesn’t give interviews. Or so they said. In our conversation, the tennis star tells us how he manages to consistently deliver top performances, what sort of relationship he has with his rivals – and how people often misjudge him as a person.
The Range Rover is perhaps the only car in the world that allows you to cross rivers in style. We took a closer look at the history of Range Rover with a retrospective of the brand’s legendary advertisements. And because they are so timeless, we thought reenacting them would be a brilliant idea. Turned out to be a lot of fun.
Music you can see. This is what it looks like when Germany’s most successful jazz trumpeter grabs his camera and photographs an incredibly successful pop singer. Check it out in our very special fashion shoot.
Noel Gallagher rose to fame with his band Oasis, becoming one of the greatest rock stars of the nineties. Then he had a falling-out with his brother Liam. An interview with the fifty-four-year-old guitarist and songwriter, whose taste for insults of any kind and decidedly healthy level of self-esteem are legend.
Some evenings, the motorcycle seems like the last chance to get away from it all. Though it’s not about escaping the world, on the contrary. It’s the direct route back to real life. Okay, and it’s a lot of fun too.
Why is Steve McQueen considered the “King of Cool” and what significance does coolness still have today anyway? We got the answer from philosopher Lambert Wiesing. He also gave us some female counterparts like Greta Thunberg and radical examples like Janis Joplin. The conversation also touched on the topic of humor.
In the nineties, Joachim Schoss was a hugely successful entrepreneur. Then he lost an arm and a leg in a serious motorcycle accident. We talked to him about the principle of hope, his MyHandicap foundation and what advice he’d like to give his kids.
Rüdiger Maas is a pioneer in the field of workplace cyberpsychology. In plain language that means the forty-two-year-old author studies what being online does to us. In our interview, he explains what you should know as a boss, what role the thumb now plays in our heads, and why flamingos in the background are never a good idea.
