924 GTS: The Porsche that could wait

Some cars appear early in life. And then never disappear
from your head again.

Like this Porsche 924 GTS.

A red Porsche is parked on the car train to Sylt in Niebüll. The sports car looks like it's from another era. People walk across the platform, some take a quick look, others stop. You quickly realise: this car is not one of those you see every day.

An elderly gentleman approaches.
"Is this your Porsche?"
The driver nods.
The man looks at the car for a moment longer, as if checking something - perhaps a memory.
"A real GTS?"
The driver nods again.
"You do realise what you've got there?"
He explains that he has owned almost every Porsche in his life. Except a 924 Carrera GTS.
"They didn't want to build it back then."
He smiles briefly.
"That was my dream car."

Then he continues.

However, the story of this car does not begin here. It begins many years earlier.
