Pure excitement at the Winter Olympics in Cortina and Milan? Even if you're not into winter sports, it's still worth taking a look at the athletes. For the clothing alone. Between high fashion and sporty functionality, each team brings its very own vibe. A fashionable performance check.

We'll put it this way: at this year's Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, it's not just the sporting superstars who are in the mood for top performances – the big sports brands and fashion houses are also really delivering when it comes to outfitting. This year's trend colour: white. Matching the snow-covered mountains of the Dolomites.

Host nation Italy will be kitted out in milk-white, minimalist outfits by luxury label Emporio Armani – with contrasting details in the national colours of green, white and red, such as in the hoods of the jackets.

Germany
Team Germany has been competing in adidas outfits for more than 50 years – including in Italy. Once again, the brand is pursuing an inclusive design approach – all outfits were developed directly with the Paralympic athletes. The graphic print features different shades of the national colours black, red and gold as well as symbols such as the eagle and the abbreviation GER.

USA

For the tenth time in a row, Ralph Lauren is providing the uniform look for the US team at the opening and closing ceremonies. Under the motto "Vintage Americana", the collection presents white wool coats and jumpers with a flag, white trousers and puffer jackets.

The look for the medal ceremony in turn comes from the forge of ACG, All Conditions Gear, the Nike label for outdoor performance. Among them: the new Therma-FIT Air Milano jacket and the ACG Ultrafly trail running shoe.

Canada

Team Canada once again presents itself in outfits from the Lululemon label – in classic red, the collection clearly stands out from the white outfits of other nations.

New at the start: Oakley. The brand exclusively equips the snowboarding associations of Canada (and Finland) – and features colour blocking and dynamic line graphics. On top, there is high-performance equipment such as helmets and snow goggles from Oakley.

The luxury brand Moncler is outfitting an Olympic team again after 58 years – supplying technically advanced racing suits from the Moncler Grenoble collection with curved patterns and colour gradients from green to gold, as well as tailor-made down jackets for the opening ceremony.

Le Coq Sportif dresses the French athletes: The collection's patterns are based on topographical maps, while the toned-down colours are taken from the French flag. Insulating and breathable materials ensure optimum heat regulation, while ergonomic cuts provide freedom of movement.

You may not necessarily have Mongolia and its three athletes on your radar when it comes to the medal table – but the team's outfits are causing a sensation all the more. The collection from the label Goyol Cashmere combines classic materials such as Mongolian cashmere with traditional craftsmanship and modern silhouettes.
