What a station wagon: BMW M3 Touring 24H

1 April 2025: BMW M Motorsport shows an M3 Touring as a racing car on Instagram. As an April Fool's joke, of course. 16 May 2026: The BMW M3 Touring 24H starts at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. For real. And after its initial community design, the somewhat different estate car now shines in a new and eye-catching shell look.

When BMW M Motorsport 2025 showed a racing version of the BMW M3 Touring on its social media channels, it was actually just a joke. After all, it was 1 April. But as it happens, the post went viral. And how. The community was thrilled - and had just one wish: really build it!

No sooner said than done. And now the somewhat different racing car is taking part in perhaps the toughest endurance race in the world - the 24h Nürburgring on the Nordschleife. Also known as the Green Hell thanks to Jackie Stewart.

After the preparatory races in the NLS (Nürburgring Endurance Series), which the M3 Touring 24h still contested in its black and white community design, Shell is now coming on board. For the biggest - and unfortunately the only - race in its history, the estate car is given a black, white, yellow and red livery that runs diagonally across the entire car. Shell logos on the side included, as well as two decorative stripes on the black bonnet, which quote the BMW M colours blue and red.

The cockpit of the BMW M3 Touring 24H will be shared by Connor De Phillippi (USA), Ugo de Wilde (BEL), Jens Klingmann (GER) and Neil Verhagen (USA). Which position will they end up in after 24 hours? Absolutely impossible to predict. Especially with the competition this year, which also includes Max Verstappen. But one thing is clear: the four drivers and the M3 Touring 24H have already won the hearts of the fans.</p
