Vespa Primavera: Scooting into spring

Spring sends its regards: Vespa is not only celebrating the 2026 season with two new model generations – the Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint S – but also 80 years of brand history.

In case you didn't know, the man who developed the Vespa was originally an aeronautical engineer and built helicopters. This is significant because Corradino D'Ascanio was the first to apply the principle of aerodynamics to two-wheelers.

And 80 years later, the aerodynamic design still characterises all of the brand's models – including the Primavera and Sprint S for the 2026 season.

However, D'Ascanio's successors were not entirely idle and came up with a few other innovations for these models.

The new models for the 2026 season

One of the most important new features of the two small-body models Primavera and Sprint S is a new rear disc brake for the 125 and 150 cc versions, which replaces the previous drum brake for the first time and, together with the front disc and ABS, ensures greater safety.

Vespa is also improving comfort: All variants over 50 cubic centimetres now have a Keyless System. In addition, a new LCD dashboard which displays speed and vehicle data completely digitally instead of on classic round instruments. Via the Vespa MIA connectivity platform smartphone functions such as calls, music or navigation can also be optionally navigation can be integrated. There is a choice of petrol engines with 50, 125 or 15 cubic centimetres displacement and electric versions – the latter with a removable battery in the 45 km/h moped version.

Optically, Vespa continues to focus on Ibunte variety. The Primavera comes in Bianco Innocente, Nero Convinto, Verde Amabile, Blu Energico and the new Beige Avvolgente, among others. The sporty Sprint S is offered in Rosso Coraggioso, Blu Eclettico or the new Verde Ribelle, among others. The range is complemented by the technically oriented Primavera Tech with matt colours such as Blu Energico Opaco or Grigio Ottimista Opaco.

In 2026, Vespa will be 80 years old. From 25 to 28 June, Rome will be the big stage for the iconic scooter – events, sporting competitions and the Vespa Concours d'Elegance will take place in the Vespa Village and throughout the city.
