The Rolls-Royce of Chess Sets

Rolls-Royce unveils its latest design concept — a modern interpretation of one of the world’s most beloved games. Chess has never felt this refined.

The board, complete with embedded pieces, opens with a single fluid motion to reveal a leather-lined tray that gently rises, presenting the magnetically held pieces — a gesture reminiscent of the effortless grace with which a Rolls-Royce door opens.

"We know that many of our clients are passionate chess players — often at a very high level — so we were inspired to create our own unique chess set."

For Rolls-Royce, this set is a natural extension of its spirit of hospitality and shared experience — the same ethos that defines the brand’s broader lifestyle offerings.

Each set is meticulously handcrafted. The board’s aluminum grid is machine-milled, then finished by hand to ensure every edge is perfectly defined. Viewed from above, the playing surface reveals a striking diamond pattern.


Each piece is a miniature sculpture, crafted from ceramic-coated aluminum. Hidden magnets give them stability, while polished stainless steel heads add a jewel-like accent. The black pieces feature a satin finish, while the white ones are subtly iridescent. And naturally, the Spirit of Ecstasy emblem is featured on both the front and back of the board.

The chess set is available in four base configurations, with the option to personalize it in one of thirteen Rolls-Royce leather colors. The price? Around €35,100 for the base model. Likely the most affordable Rolls-Royce you’ll ever own — and perhaps the most expensive chess set.

Every detail has been thoughtfully engineered. Hidden magnets beneath the board keep pieces perfectly aligned during play, lending each move a sense of precision and intent. There's even a concealed compartment for an extra queen, should the game demand it — a testament to the brand’s commitment to intelligent luxury.
