A Culinary Sanctuary

The Alpina Gstaad has only just announced its upcoming summer partnership with Harry’s Bar in London, and already guests can look forward to the next culinary highlight. Concettina ai Tre Santi, the legendary pizzeria from Naples, is making a comeback in the Swiss Alps. And that means: pizza, amore e dolce vita.

Pizza lovers take note: Neapolitan pizza is characterised by its extremely light, airy crust and very thin, soft base. It is baked in a wood-fired oven for 60 to 90 seconds at blistering temperatures of up to 485°C; incidentally, it is shaped using only the hands – a rolling pin is strictly forbidden! The preparation is so unique that the art of Neapolitan pizza-making was even declared a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2017.

And one person who has mastered this method to perfection is Ciro Oliva, owner and head chef of the family-run pizzeria Concettina ai Tre Santi.

Oliva and his team are now bringing the authentic flavours of Naples to Gstaad. From 27 July to 24 August, guests at the Swiss luxury hotel can look forward not only to timeless classics and traditional Neapolitan cuisine, but also to modern creations and Oliva’s famous signature pizzas. And anyone keen to be let in on the secrets of the perfect pizza dough can book an exclusive masterclass with the maestro himself, who will be on site from 13 to 16 August.
