"The Dream Makers" award by CUPRA

Cinematic

CUPRA not only makes driving dreams come true - the challenger brand also helps talented film makers to turn their visions into reality. For example, with the sponsorship award of the short film competition "The Dream Makers" as part of the Berlinale.

Now the winner has been announced.

For the second time, CUPRA is honouring a young filmmaker with "The Dream Makers" award at the Berlin International Film Festival. This year, 29-year-old British filmmaker Alfie Barker received the award for his screenplay "The Zebra". The realisation of the short film is now being financed and supported by the competition initiators CUPRA, Berlinale, Berlinale Talents and Studio Babelsberg - so that the promising story can land on the big screen.

"The Zebra" is inspired by a true story and centres on the protagonist Andrew, whose obsession with zebras culminates in him convincing his mother to keep a real zebra in her house.

Among the submissions of young talents from 15 countries was yet another project that impressed the jury. The Chief Brand Officer of CUPRA Ignasi Prieto, director and CUPRA brand ambassador J. A. Bayona, actor Daniel Brühl, Berlinale Director Tricia Tuttle and producer and Managing Director of Studio Babelsberg Motion Pictures Marcus Loges also recognised Renis Hyka for his screenplay for the short film "Day One" (original: "Dita e parë") with an award.

The Albanian filmmaker receives support for the production of his story. "Day One" tells the story of a couple who have never been able to have children - and the day their fate changes.
