We say it time and time again: a road trip isn’t about reaching your destination. It’s about the experience, being in the moment, and the journey itself. How wonderful that Louis Vuitton is now giving this idea more prominence once again – with the revival of the Louis Vuitton Classic Run, which this year winds its way through the Dolomites. We take a look at the event that combines classic cars, style and the ultimate sense of freedom.

Even those of you who aren’t particularly fashion-conscious are likely to be aware that Louis Vuitton stands for the ‘Art of Travel’ and that the brand’s history began with luggage. But did you also know that Georges Ferréol Vuitton, the son of the company’s founder Louis Vuitton, was a car enthusiast? In 1897, the designer began to weave this passion into the fashion brand – and designed the first car case. With its flat, understated design, Georges replaced the bulky suitcases that were common at the time. Eight years later, he unveiled the round ‘Sacs Chauffeurs’, which fitted perfectly into the spare-wheel well. And even today, the connection to motoring is still evident – this year once again at a very special event: the revival of the time-honoured Louis Vuitton Classic Runs.

The Louis Vuitton Dolomites Classic Run 2026

600 kilometres through northern Italy – that is what awaits participants at the Louis Vuitton Dolomites Classic Run 2026 from September 1st to 4th. They will be driving in their classic cars of exceptional value, drawn from the world’s most prestigious collections.

As every ending also marks a new beginning, this year’s exclusive journey sets off from Venice – the very place where the last tour, the Serenissima Run 2012, came to an end. From there, the participants will travel through the spectacular landscape of the Dolomites to Monza. Here, in the home of the iconic Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, the ‘Temple of Speed’, the classic cars will parade on September 4th at the opening of the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

“Victory Travels in Louis Vuitton”

But Louis Vuitton wouldn’t be Louis Vuitton if there weren’t another highlight to the tour: this drive is modelled on classic rallies – and so also crowns a winner. The prize-giving ceremony takes place at the Castello Sforzesco in the centre of Milan, where the winner is presented with a trophy. Naturally, this is transported in a Louis Vuitton trophy case, as is traditional for the trophies of the FIFA World Cup, the League of Legends Cup, the Davis Cup, the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, the Australian Open and many other competitions.

The history of the Louis Vuitton Classic Runs

Since 1993, the French fashion house has been bringing its legendary heritage of savoir-faire to the world of classic cars. The first tour, the 1993 Vintage Equator Run, wound its way through the Malaysian jungle and rubber plantations. At the Italia Classica in 1995 and 1997, participants explored the vineyards and historic towns of Tuscany. In 1998, the route took them to China – from Dalian to Beijing. The 2006 Boheme Run stretched from Budapest via Vienna to Prague. And during the 2012 Serenissima Run from Monte Carlo to Venice, the classic cars and their owners crossed no fewer than four countries.

So the route has changed time and again over the years. But one thing remains the same: every edition of the Louis Vuitton Classic Run is all about passion. For driving. For art. For savoir-faire. In short: the beauty of life.
