The Barcelona Chair from Knoll doesn't need Milan Design Week to be in the spotlight - this design icon does it every day. Not only in Milan. Not just in Barcelona. But all over the world.
The classic was designed by the German-American architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the Spanish royal couple - so the throne-like appearance of the X-legs is anything but a coincidence. Incidentally, the chair celebrated its premiere in the German Pavilion at the 1929 World's Fair, which - you guessed it - took place in Barcelona.
