Designers Tim Kaeding and Lela Tillem Becker founded their label MOTHER in 2010, inspired by 1970s California. That era was characterised by the laid-back hippie lifestyle, the music of Fleetwood Mac and an emerging skate and surf culture. It is precisely these memories and experiences that the label translates into its collections – with a particular focus on super-soft denim. This August sees the next logical step: a dedicated, physical space for the world of MOTHER.
Located at 351 N. Canon Drive in Beverly Hills, MOTHER’s first standalone store – nicknamed ‘The Big Boy’ – is less a shop than a place to wander around, linger and marvel. Part Californian living room, part glamorous club, part cabinet of curiosities: across 358 square metres, the store brings the brand’s spirit to life through fashion, culture and community.
At the heart of the flagship store is a lounge area that invites visitors to gather, socialise and linger; right next to it, the in-house café serves coffee, matcha and cake.
