AI and co: our CES highlights

If not here, then where? At CES 2024, the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, everything revolves around artificial intelligence. But fortunately not only. A lot of human intelligence has also been invested in the topic of hydrogen. And AI is still a long way from the bold designs on show at CES. Our highlights,

Samsung: all new, all AI

Samsung is leading the way when it comes to artificial intelligence and has announced its "AI for all" initiative. The Korean company's aim is to deliberately allow the new technology to work in the background and unobtrusively. The aim is to improve the user experience without causing discomfort. The Neo QLED 8K QN900D television presented at CES, for example, uses its neural processor to upscale low-resolution content or sharpen fast-moving objects in the picture. "Ballie" - a small robot presented in 2020 - also benefits from the latest developments and updates. In addition to smart home solutions, Samsung also presented the Galaxy Book4 series. The notebooks are now set to run even smoother, be smarter and more customisable. All possible thanks to? That's right: artificial intelligence.

Volkswagen: Hi, IDA!

After Siri and Alexa, "IDA" is the third voice assistant that will accompany us in our everyday lives in the future. Volkswagen is the first major manufacturer to connect its cars and voice system to the artificial intelligence "ChatGPT". From the second quarter of 2024, customers will be able to seamlessly access the constantly growing database and have researched content read out to them while driving and interact with the car in natural language. And feel a bit like David Hasselhoff in Knight Rider. Controlling infotainment, navigation and climate control will therefore become even easier and more intuitive. The "Cerence Chat Pro" programme from technology partner Cerence Inc. serves as the software basis.

LG: Real freedom in the living room

The TV, its picture quality and the room in which it stands: LG has thought all of this through with its SIGNATURE OLED T, freeing the 4K television from classic cables and elevating the device to a real design object with its transparent architecture. Sound and picture are streamed, and the transparent OLED T can be used as a free-standing model, mounted on the wall or simply placed on a floating shelf. It fits everywhere. Especially as the device is not only capable of moving images, but can also simply conjure up a work of art on the wall when not in use. The makers of the CES also considered the LG TV to be such a work of art: it won no fewer than five CES 2024 Innovation Awards, including the coveted and prestigious prize in the "Best of Innovation" category.

Hyundai: H meets A and I

Hyundai's future agenda can be summarised in two words: Hydrogen and Artificial Intelligence. Hyundai aims to become climate-neutral by 2050, for which they are thinking big and holistically in South Korea: entire hydrogen ecosystems are to be created and make people's lives better. Jay Chang, President & CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, summarises: "We believe that science and humanity are two sides of the same coin. Advanced technology should always improve people's lives." Under the HTWO brand, the Hyundai Motor Group aims to sell three million tonnes of hydrogen per year by 2035 - and also convert waste into hydrogen. AI is also becoming a key sector: with the "Software-defined Everything" (SDx) strategy, all vehicles, fleets and ecosystems are to become valuable assets through advanced software and artificial intelligence (AI).
