The V stands for Victory

“Victory Travels in Louis Vuitton”. Let’s just take that at face value for now. After all, the Maison presented the trophy for the 2026 Formula 1 Lenovo Austrian Grand Prix in a Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk specially crafted for the occasion. From there, it made its way to the winner, George Russell, who steered his Mercedes-AMG Petronas to first place in a thrilling battle.

Last weekend, the small town of Spielberg in the Austrian province of Styria was once again in the public spotlight. The town is best known for two things: firstly, the Red Bull Ring. Secondly, director Steven Spielberg, whose roots are said to lie in Styria: his ancestors first emigrated to Ukraine, then to the USA. In memory of their origins, they adopted – you guessed it – the surname Spielberg.

Back to the racetrack: for George Russell, this was already his second victory at Spielberg since 2024. Louis Vuitton is also entering its second season this year as an official partner of Formula 1.

Fittingly, the winner’s trophy was presented in a handcrafted Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk. In doing so, the Maison not only celebrated the Mercedes driver’s triumph but also showcased its savoir-faire and craftsmanship.

New this season: the Victory Patch. The symbol is intended to serve as a reminder that every victory becomes part of a lasting legacy. Inspired by classic travel stickers and featuring the winner’s initials, each patch documents the history of a Grand Prix and honours the driver who wrote it. After George Russell crossed the finish line, his initials were added too – right next to those of last year’s winner, Lando Norris.
