Fashion for a worldly man

The fact that Brett Johnson turned up a little late for our interview appointment at Bungalow Stuttgart was something we could immediately forgive. Not only did he have a valid reason – a previous test drive in a 911 GTS had apparently made him forget the time – he also redefined the modern look for the international man with garments from his eponymous label.

Sneakers. For ten-year-old Brett Johnson, they were the gateway to the world. And an expression of his personality as he customised them. As a sneaker collector, he regularly brought his Nike Air Force Ones and self-curated fabrics to the cobbler – asking him to combine the two. "It helped me to find my own style," the American-Italian fashion designer recalls in conversation. In 2012, Brett Johnson launched his eponymous label in the USA, five years later he moved the brand to Milan. Brett Johnson is now represented in major stores around the world, including Saks Fifth Avenue in Chicago, Harrods in London – and Bungalow in Stuttgart.

The designer has now also come to Stuttgart in person. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary celebrations for Bungalow, Johnson showed his current collection for spring/summer 2026. The perfect opportunity for us to get to know the creative mind in person. He spoke to ramp editor-in-chief Michael Köckritz about experiences that create resonance, good design and, of course, his current collection.

It is inspired by a trip to the Greek coastal town of Porto Heli, which he undertook with his late wife. The collection features colours, materials and shapes that remind him of this special time on the Greek Riviera. The navy blue of his suit was a perfect match.
