A big stage for big stories: The CUPRA Raval at the Berlinale

The Berlinale has always been about stories that are worth telling. This year, a newcomer whose story is still in its infancy rolled onto the red carpet: the all-electric CUPRA Raval.

His appearance did not follow the classic dramaturgy of flashing lights, logos and quick statements. Instead, everything began quietly. Then light, voices, movement. A choir formed like a living soundtrack, while the Raval slowly glided into the centre of the scene - not as a product, but as a protagonist. Because that's exactly what it was about: staging as a narrative form. The idea that mobility today is not just about technology, but about context and cultural resonance.

Music, performance, car: three narratives that overlap and reinforce each other.

Then the scene changed: Berlin artist $oho Bani got out of the vehicle - and transformed the red carpet into a stage. His new single celebrated its world premiere here, followed later by a track with a clear social message. Music, performance, car: three narratives that overlapped and reinforced each other.

The setting also told a story. The BORN 2 SING choir, an LGBTQAI+ and BIPoC community collective, was at the centre of the production. Diversity was not asserted here, but made visible - as part of the story.

On this evening, the Raval was presented less as a vehicle and more as a cultural figure: urban, electric, consciously positioned for a generation that no longer views products in isolation, but always in the context of their meaning.

This is precisely why the Berlinale is such a good fit for this debut. After all, both cinema and design are about the same core: generating attention, triggering emotions - and telling a story that lasts. The market launch of the CUPRA Raval will not take place until summer 2026, but it has already played its first scene.
