Royal Enfield and why motorbike design must not be an art form
ADRIAN SELLERS, as Head of the Industrial Design Department – Custom & Motorsport at Royal Enfield, is responsible for some of the brand’s most iconic silhouettes, from the Shotgun 650 to the Super Meteor 650. With the GT Cup and the ‘Build. Train. Race.’ programme, Royal Enfield’s first all-female flat-track and road racing programmes, he has also opened up new avenues into motorcycling. In this interview, the American-born designer explains why, for him, good design is closer to craftsmanship than to art, and just how much nostalgia a motorbike can accommodate without looking like a museum piece.
