Time for glamour: Bulgari and Tiffany

There are films that have a style-defining effect for decades. And sometimes they define certain brands beyond their social context. Just ask New York jeweller Tiffany & Co. Ever since Audrey Hepburn enjoyed her "Breakfast at Tiffany's" as Holly Golightly in the 1961 film of the same name, Tiffany has been a symbol of stylish understatement, cultivated glamour and timeless sophistication.

But it can also be more subtle. In 1960, Federico Fellini released his bittersweet tragicomedy "La Dolce Vita", which is about the glitz and glamour of the Via Veneto and in its own way became a style-setter for Rome. Even if Bulgari is not staged as a prop in the film, the brand is still considered an iconic part of the style and celebrity of the era. This is probably also due to the fact that stars such as Anita Ekberg, Liz Taylor and Gina Lollobrigida all worked at Bulgari.

The fact that both Tiffany & Co. and Bulgari are still associated with this aura from the wild sixties more than 60 years later is of course also due to the fact that both houses still interpret their style in a contemporary way today. Bulgari Maglia Milanese Monete Secret Watch
Almost 2000 years of Italian cultural history united in one watch: Bulgari takes up the design of the Monete from the mid-1960s and combines the rose gold watch with an authentic ancient Roman coin depicting Emperor Caracalla from the 3rd century. But that's not all: the bracelet was created using the Milanaise braiding technique, which was developed in Milan during the Renaissance. The rose gold threads are woven together with the utmost precision. And inside beats the ultra-compact Piccolissimo calibre BVP100, considered to be one of the smallest mechanical movements.
Serpenti Seduttori Automatic
Let's talk about "Cleopatra", or rather the leading actress of the monumental film of the same name, Liz Taylor. During filming in Rome in 1962, she was a regular visitor to the Bulgari boutique in Via Condotti. She owned several Serpenti pieces, including a Serpenti diamond watch. Bulgari picks up on this heritage. Equipped with the in-house manufacture movement Lady Solotempo Automatic BVS100, the Serpenti now appears in an elegantly discreet version with a green malachite dial and diamond-set bezel. And for those who are more in tune with Liz Taylor: It is also available with a fully diamond-set bracelet.
Lvcea Notte di Luce Limited Edition
A clock as a meditation on light, time and eternity? Let's just leave it at that. Because the Lvcea Notte di Luce Limited Edition, limited to 80 pieces, was created in collaboration with the Japanese Urushi master Yasuhiro Asai. He composed the dials from tiny pieces of mother-of-pearl that were individually inlaid in lacquer. This makes each one unique in its own right. What they all have in common is the Solotempo BVL191 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve, a 33-millimetre rose gold and stainless steel case and a bezel set with diamonds.
Tiffany Timer Chronograph
160 years ago, Tiffany & Co. presented the Timing Watch - one of America's first stopwatches. The Timer Chronograph is a contemporary reinterpretation, limited to 60 pieces, to mark the anniversary. Equipped with a customised El Primero movement from Zenith, the 40 mm polished platinum case is characterised by curved lines and push-buttons. The dial deserves special attention: to achieve the perfect depth of Tiffany blue, 15 layers of clear lacquer were applied and fired for twelve hours.

He had a very clear career plan from a very early age: He wanted to be a rock star. Then he was allowed to join the school band. Because he wrote the lyrics (and because nobody, but really nobody, wanted to play bass). But it didn't last long. He switched basses with his father's Triumph Adler, realised that it also sounded nice, and decided to write about the dark side of the music business. But it turned out to be an internship at the local newspaper. Stayed quite a long time. It was much more exciting than I thought. After that, I worked as an editor for various newspapers, covering the finer things from cinema to music to travel. I also came across ramp. And stayed. It really is as exciting as I thought.
