Sun, sound and snow: The I.C.E. St. Moritz 2026

The I.C.E. St. Moritz 2026 is more than just a Concours of Elegance. The I.C.E. is dolce vita on ice, where the frozen lake of the luxury hotspot becomes a stage for design, technology and movement. Simply to be enjoyed.

How do you define coolness? The fascinating thing about this phenomenon is that it defies all classic patterns of interpretation. Of course: authenticity fits quite well. Style confidence too. Relaxedness anyway. If we add the unexpected as a rebellious component, we are already very close. An example? When racing driver Eric Comas drifts across the St. Moritz ice track in his road-legal Le Mans Nissan R390 GT1, while Tom Kristensen flies across in an Audi Sport Quattro on the outside track, that's one of those moments. Completely unreal. Like in a film. Or in a video game. As Gran Turismo on ice. Especially when an Alpine winter dream backdrop, blue skies and minus 14 degrees on the thermometer are added to the mix. Then the iconic moment is perfect. As experienced at this year's edition of The I.C.E. St. Moritz.

At the international Concours of Elegance last weekend, automotive culture was celebrated in style and speed. "Top of the World" was not only the claim for St. Moritz itself, but also for the programme and the curated selection of vehicles. 50 classic and sports cars from various classes and decades stood on the ice - not still, but as agile and hard-moving machines. The audience: international, cross-generational, good-humoured, relaxed - but above all: very close to the action.

When the Patrouille Suisse, the Swiss Army's aerobatic squadron, draws razor-sharp lines through the Engadine winter sky with its flight manoeuvres, the composition of technique, style, movement and speed is perfect.

And because something as excellent as this can also be honoured, the jury selected the "Best in Class" winners in five categories of the Concours on Friday:

- Legendary Liveries: Lancia Stratos, 1976

- Open Wheels: Maserati 4CLT, 1949

- Birth of Hypercar: Jaguar XJ220, 1993

- Barchettas on the Lake: Ferrari 750 Monza, 1955

- Icons on Wheels: Talbot-Lago T150C SS "Teardrop", 1937

The newly introduced Best Sound Award went to a 1965 Pontiac Vivant - loud, lively, bright blue and just right on the ice.

Saturday then belonged to movement: free laps on the lake, cars in the river, reflections in the ice, flying snow in the air.

At the end, the jury had another go: Best in Show was once again the Talbot-Lago T150C SS "Teardrop" from 1937, honoured with the trophy designed by Norman Foster especially for The I.C.E.

The Spirit of St. Moritz Award went to the Ferrari Dino 206 S from 1967, while the public voted the McLaren F1 GTR in the Lark livery as the "Hero Below Zero".

And what remains in retrospect? The feeling of having been part of the coolest winter car event. And, of course, looking forward to next year.
