Ducati Superleggera V4 Centenario. Or: When "too much" is just right!

There are motorbikes. And there are statements. The new Ducati Superleggera V4 Centenario is the latter - a rideable manifesto of carbon fibre, performance and Italian radicalism. Built to show what is possible when you consistently refuse to compromise.

100 years of Ducati - and instead of nostalgia, there's a hyperbike that thinks more in terms of MotoGP than the road.

Carbon as a religion

For the Superleggera, carbon is not a feature, but a philosophy.
Frame, swingarm, rear, fairing, wheels - almost everything is made of carbon fibre. Even where other manufacturers would have stopped long ago, Ducati is just getting started.

The result: 173 kg (dry) with road approval.
Or to put it another way: absurdly little.

And it's not just about saving weight. Ducati uses carbon specifically for the riding experience: less lateral stiffness in the front frame for better feedback, a one-piece rear structure, a hollow swingarm made from a melted wax core. High-end manufacturing, somewhere between aviation and craftsmanship.

228 hp - and that's just the beginning

A Desmosedici Stradale R V4 with 1,103 cm³ works at its heart.
New: an ultra-light crankshaft with tungsten inserts.

Power?
228 hp in standard condition.

With the racing kit, the whole thing escalates to:
247 hp at just 167 kg.

This results in a power-to-weight ratio of around 1.5 hp per kg - a figure that is otherwise more at home in the Superbike World Championship than on public roads.

Brakes like from another league

Perhaps the most radical detail:
A road-approved carbon-ceramic brake - for the first time in a production motorbike.

  • Brembo GP4-HY monobloc calipers
  • ~39 % less moment of inertia

Cost point of the braking system?
Approximately 20,000 euros.
