So before you watch any monumental films at the Berlinale, treat yourself to narrative essence. Where? At the Berlinale Shorts 2026, the curated contenders for the CUPRA Filmmaker Award.

21 short films will be screened at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival in the Berlinale Shorts section. The themes? Very diverse. They range from a poetic science trip into the eternal ice to committed social documentaries and self-empowerment stories to jungle adventures in Cambodia. What all the films have in common is the chance to win the Golden Bear for Best Short Film, the Silver Bear Jury Prize (Short Film), the Berlinale Shorts CUPRA Filmmaker Award and a nomination for the European Film Award. CUPRA at the 76th Berlinale

Last year, CUPRA already supported talented filmmakers at the Berlinale with the newly introduced Berlinale Shorts CUPRA Filmmaker Award. In 2026, the challenger brand will also introduce the short film competition "The Dream Makers" as the renewed main and mobility partner of the Berlin International Film Festival - and thus expand the promotion of up-and-coming talent.
