Outfit of the Day: Sail Away
There are many legends about what the stripes on the sailor's shirt mean. One of them says that they symbolize waves and serve as a talisman for superstitious fishermen should they ever go overboard. What is certain is that the French navy declared the “Marinière”, as the shirt is called, to be the official garment for sailors in 1858.
